SANDAKAN: Sabah voters must come out in full force on polling day tomorrow to find solutions to the state's "unresolved issues", says Datuk Chin Kim Hiung.
"We cannot afford another five years of the same unresolved issues," said Barisan Nasional's candidate for Karamunting.
He said many households have lived through chronic water disruptions, unstable electricity supply and poor road conditions for decades, problems he believes should never have become a permanent part of daily life.
"How many five-year terms do we have in life? These are not new problems, and they should not be problems our children inherit. Karamunting simply cannot wait any longer,” he said in an interview.
Chin said when those entrusted to fix longstanding issues fail repeatedly, "it is time for a change”, expressing confidence that a dedicated task force under his leadership would be able to tackle the three fundamental issues within two years.
"This is not just a promise. It is a commitment backed by planning, expertise and a clear roadmap.”
However, he stressed that resolving basic utilities is only the starting point.
Karamunting has enormous potential waiting to be unlocked, with plans to develop tourism in Pasir Putih, strengthen small and medium enterprises and create more opportunities for young people, he said.
"We can move past old frustrations and start building real opportunities. This is how we take Karamunting to the next level, with real solutions, real progress and real work on the ground.”
He appealed for voters' support, adding: "Give me a chance and together, we can give Karamunting the fresh start it truly deserves."
Chin also explained why he believes Barisan offers the most stable and trustworthy leadership, highlighting integrity, loyalty and accountability as values he has held throughout his years of service.
"I have been clean and transparent. I have no corruption issues or controversies. A leader must serve with a clear conscience,” he said.
Chin said he treats every public complaint seriously, ensuring that issues raised – from infrastructure to welfare – are recorded and followed up "step by step”.
"To me, a promise is a responsibility, not a slogan. If I say I will handle something, I follow through,” he said, urging voters to evaluate him not just by campaign speeches, but by the way he has approached his responsibilities over the years.
"My commitment has always been the same: to serve with honesty, stability and genuine dedication to the community.”
