Floods: Kangar hospital closes blood bank, limits clinic operations


PETALING JAYA: The blood bank at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) in Kangar, Perlis, has been temporarily closed while specialist clinics will be operating with limited services because of the floods.

Videos of the hospital in the northern state being inundated in floodwaters have been circulating on social media.

Some videos also showed patients being transferred to higher floors to keep them safe from the rising water.

The hospital has also issued notices on its Facebook page.

“Due to the current situation, all Specialist Clinics at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF), Kangar will be operating with limited services. The Specialist Clinic staff will contact patients to reschedule their appointment dates," it said in a notice on Wednesday(Nov 26).

"HTF apologises for any inconvenience caused and greatly appreciates the cooperation of all customers," it added.

The hospital’s blood bank will not be accepting any blood donations at this juncture.

"For your information, the HTF Blood Bank is closed for blood donation starting today, Tuesday Nov 25, until a date to be announced later," the notice added.
