Technician told by court to enter defence in sexual assault case against minor

SEREMBAN: A 31-year-old technician has been ordered to enter his defence by the Sessions Court here for allegedly committing sexual assault on a girl who was nearly 15 at a bus stop.

Judge Surita Budin ruled that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against K. Jason Joshua at the end of the prosecution's case.

She said the court arrived at the decision after perusing testimonies by witnesses and based on a thorough evaluation.

The accused was charged with indecent exposure and rubbing his genitals against the victim at the bus stop in front of a school in Port Dickson around 4.15pm on Oct 25, 2023.

He was charged under Section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine not exceeding RM20,000 or both upon conviction.

The court then fixed Jan 12 and 13 for trial.
