Khairy set to campaign for old buddies

KOTA KINABALU: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin is set to arrive in Sabah next week to campaign for his ex-comrades who are now in different parties.

He will be in Sabah on Wednesday and Thursday to campaign in several state seats.

According to Khairy, he will be supporting Pakatan Harapan’s Yamani Hafez Musa in Sindumin (Sipitang), PKR’s Jamawi Jaafar in Melalap (Tenom) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s Mohd Arsad Bistari in Tempasuk (Kota Belud).

“These are the confirmed stops based on the fact that they are my comrades from Umno Youth days.

“Even though they are now with different parties, they asked me to come personally. I am campaigning for them in a personal capacity,” he told The Star.

Khairy was sacked from Umno in January 2023 for criticising the party’s leadership during the 15th General Election.

Recently, speculation is rife that Khairy is set to make a comeback to politics.

Several media sources have reported that the former Rembau MP is set to rejoin Umno.
