Driver in viral punctured tyre case tests positive for drugs, say police

KUALA LUMPUR: The driver caught on camera driving dangerously with a destroyed tyre tested positive for drugs, say police.

In a statement on Sunday (Nov 23), City traffic chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said a urine test was conducted after the driver presented himself on the morning of the same day.

“The driver tested positive for ketamine, amphetamine and meth. He has been detained at the Dang Wangi police headquarters,” he added.

The incident recorded on Saturday (Nov 22) showed the driver in a 4x4 with a punctured tyre heading towards Jalan Kuchai Maju.

Earlier, the 32-year-old suspect told police he was driving home as his house was nearby.

“The dangerous driving was filmed by a motorcyclist before both stopped near a traffic light along Jalan Kuchai Maju,” he said.
