Zahid calls on public to remain alert during Northeast Monsoon


KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded residents in flood-prone areas to stay vigilant, monitor weather alerts closely and adhere to instructions issued by the authorities throughout the Northeast Monsoon, which is currently affecting several states.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the National Disaster Management Committee chairman, said the monsoon season, expected to persist until March 2026, was forecast to bring several episodes of continuous heavy rainfall across various states, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
