Teenager drowns at Gunung Ledang waterfall


TANGKAK: A teenage boy was found drowned after he slipped while swimming with two friends at the Gunung Ledang waterfall here Wednesday (April 1) evening.

Tangkak Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Fazlan Maraman said the victim, Muhammad Zaffran Abu Samah, 15, was pronounced dead by Health Ministry staff who arrived at the scene.

"Upon arrival, the Fire and Rescue Operations Team found that the victim had fallen and drowned while swimming with two friends. The victim was recovered by members of the public before the team arrived," he said in a statement Wednesday.

He said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 5.27pm and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) together with an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, comprising eight personnel from the Tangkak Fire and Rescue Station, were dispatched to the scene.

According to him, the team conducted monitoring at the location and the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action. - Bernama
