Federal Court judge Ahmad Terrirudin appointed to Judicial Appointments Commission

KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Court judge Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh has been appointed to the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC).

A Federal Government gazette dated Nov 18, seen by The Star, stated that the Prime Minister appointed Ahmad Terrirudin as a JAC member under paragraph 5(1)(e) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009.

His appointment, for a two-year term from Nov 15, 2025 to Nov 14, 2027, fills the vacancy left by Federal Court judge Datuk Zabariah Mohd Yusof, who retired last month.

This makes the former attorney general the eighth member of the nine-member JAC panel, which was established to ensure transparency and select qualified judges for the superior courts for the Prime Minister’s consideration.

The ninth position remains vacant following the recent retirement of Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Hasnah Mohamed Hashim.

Current JAC members are Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, Court of Appeal president Datuk Abu Bakar Jais, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Azizah Nawawi, former attorney general Tan Sri Idrus Harun, former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali, former Sarawak attorney general Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid, and Universiti Teknologi Mara law lecturer Prof Dr Hartini Saripan.
