Thunderstorms in eight states until 5pm today


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in eight states until 5pm on Tuesday (Nov 18).

It said in a statement that such weather would be experienced in Perlis, Kedah and Penang, and several areas in Perak - Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung and Kinta.

Similar weather conditions are forecast in Kelantan (Kota Baru, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut and Kuantan).

The areas affected in Sarawak are Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Sri Aman, Mukah (Daro), Kapit (Song and Bukit Mabong), Miri (Marudi) and Limbang.

Warnings are issued when there are clear signs that indicate thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that occurred or expected to occur.
