Sabah polls: Rain forecast in several areas on nomination day


KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several areas on Saturday (Nov 15) morning, which is nomination day for the 17th Sabah Election.

Paitan, Telupid, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau and Kalabakan are forecast to have rain, while Kudat, Pitas and Beluran are forecast to have thunderstorms.

It will be cloudy in Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang, Tambunan, Beaufort, Membakut and Kuala Penyu, while Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Papar, Ranau, Tongod, Nabawan, Keningau, Sook, Sipitang and Tenom can expect sunny weather.

Candidates are expected to file their nomination papers to contest for 73 state seats from 9am to 10am on Saturday and after being confirmed, they can campaign for 14 days till 11.59pm on Nov 28.

A total of 1,784,843 voters comprising 1,760,417 ordinary voters, 11,697 armed forces personnel and spouses and 12,729 police and spouses, are eligible to cast their votes. – Bernama
