Bukit Aman strengthens road safety efforts with data-driven initiative

SEPANG: Bukit Aman, through the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, is dedicated to ensuring that every road user in the country can travel safely, efficiently, and responsibly, says Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

The Inspector-General of Police stated that this initiative aligns with the Malaysian Road Safety Plan 2022–2030 and the Vision Zero initiative.

"Road safety is a shared responsibility, and continuous efforts must be made to reduce risks and protect all road users.

"The department continues to serve as the main pillar of road safety in Malaysia. To strengthen operations, the department is leveraging data-driven enforcement, smart traffic systems, and technological innovation," he said in his speech during the 4th Police Special Dialogue organised by the department on Thursday (Nov 13).

Strategic collaborations with the Transport Ministry, Road Transport Department, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research and the Public Works Department are also being intensified to improve coordination in policy, engineering and enforcement for better service delivery outcomes, he added.

The IGP said the special dialogue was expected to play a vital role as a platform for collective problem-solving.

"Participants will explore the latest developments in traffic data integration, artificial intelligence (AI) and smart mobility, while discussing cross-border cooperation and regional strategies to enhance road safety.

"By bringing together various stakeholders, the event aims to foster a culture of innovation and evidence-based decision-making," he said.

The dialogue also reflects the police force's ongoing commitment to being a dynamic and responsive organisation by strengthening cooperation in safety and enforcement through policy enhancements, the exchange of expertise, innovation and technology.

"The dialogue holds special significance as it is being held in conjunction with the Road Safety Congress 2025 and Transport Expo Asia, hosted by the Transport Ministry.

"With the theme 'Towards a Sustainable Culture of Traffic Compliance’,” the dialogue underscores Malaysia’s vision of achieving zero fatalities and serious injuries on the road.

"The dialogue focuses on key areas such as smart traffic management, digital enforcement, and intelligent mobility," he added.
