PM Anwar expresses deep sorrow over deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed deep sadness over the explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday (Nov 10) evening, which claimed several lives and left many others injured.

"My heartfelt condolences go to the victims’ families and to the people of India as they mourn this senseless tragedy.

"If confirmed to be an act of terror, it deserves the strongest condemnation. There can be no justification for violence that targets innocent lives and sows fear among ordinary people," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Nov 11).

Anwar also paid tribute to the first responders and the authorities working to determine the cause of the blast and bring those responsible to justice.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are affected," he added.

Media reports said the car explosion killed at least eight people and injured more than 20. - Bernama
