Jan 9 court date for dad whose kids drowned in Sg Linggi

SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here has fixed Jan 9 for the next mention of a case involving a 46-year-old father charged with causing the deaths of his two young children, who drowned in Sungai Linggi in September.

Judge N. Kanageswari set the date after deputy public prosecutor Siti Khairiah Abdul Razak told the court on Monday (Nov 10) that the medical and post-mortem reports were not ready.

Abdul Rahman Mahmud had claimed trial when he was charged on Sept 12.

He was charged under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years' imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
