Summon Muhyiddin to provide clarification, Saifuddin tells Bersatu disciplinary board

SHAH ALAM: Indera Mahkota MP Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah called for two members of the Bersatu disciplinary board, including its chairman Datuk Mohammed Radzi Manan, to step down during a meeting with the disciplinary board at Bersatu's headquarters on Thursday (Nov 6), Sinar Harian reports.

The Malay language daily reported that the call was among three demands that Saifuddin, who is a member of Bersatu's supreme council, made during the meeting.

He urged Mohammed Radzi and lawyer Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif to withdraw from the board's quorum and also requested the presence of party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin along with the investigators and prosecutors involved in his case.

Saifuddin said he would only attend the next disciplinary board proceedings if these demands were met.

He attended the disciplinary board meeting on Thursday voluntarily, despite a reconciliation decision reached at the supreme council meeting on Tuesday (Nov 4), Sinar Harian reported.

"The first demand is for the two disciplinary board members to step down from handling my case due to their conflict of interest with the Bersatu leadership, such as vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"On a personal level, Mohammed Radzi is Ahmad Faizal's father-in-law, while Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif works under the secretary-general's leadership.

"Therefore, their personal relationships and previous statements raise concerns about the transparency of the party's disciplinary process," Sinar Harian reported Saifuddin as saying in a statement Thursday.

Saifuddin also requested clarification on the identity of the investigators and prosecutors in his case as his second demand.

"It is crucial for me to ensure that the investigator of my case, the prosecutor against me, and the disciplinary board members deciding my fate are three separate entities," he stressed.

Saifuddin's third demand was that Muhyiddin be called to provide clarification, as the charges against him involve allegations that he suggested the Pagoh MP resign from the party presidency.

"There are several questions that only Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin can answer.

"The disciplinary board can only make a decision after summoning and reviewing his testimony," he said.

Saifuddin has requested the Bersatu disciplinary board to hold a new meeting once his three demands are fulfilled.

"If all three demands are met, I am ready to attend the next meeting and fully cooperate with the disciplinary board," he asserted.
