Sabah polls: Pakatan, BN finalise seat negotiations

PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan has finalised its seat negotiations with Barisan Nasional ahead of the Sabah election scheduled for later this month, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Pakatan secretary-general said discussions between Pakatan and Barisan had been fully completed.

“Negotiations with Barisan are done.

"As for Pakatan's discussions with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), we had our final meeting.

There’s just one seat yet to reach a decision, and we still have time before Nov 15 to conclude it. I am confident we will reach an agreement," he told reporters after attending the Wira Madani programme at the Putrajaya district police headquarters on Thursday (Nov 6).

Pakatan has previously announced its cooperation with Barisan and GRS in facing the upcoming state polls, although Barisan and GRS themselves are not forming a direct alliance.

Earlier, Sabah PKR chief Mustapha Sakmud was quoted as saying that Pakatan was expected to contest between 10 and 12 seats after discussions with both GRS and Barisan.

The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 29 as polling day for the 17th Sabah state election, with nomination day on Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
