Thunderstorms expected in Terengganu, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across two states, with warnings in effect until 6pm on Tuesday (Nov 4).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Terengganu, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah.

Terengganu districts of Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman are on alert for severe weather.

Johor areas such as Mersing and Kota Tinggi are under the warning.

Sarawak divisions of Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah) and Bintulu (Bintulu) are expected to be affected.

In Sabah, Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) is also under the warning.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
