Wan Saiful's story is movie material, quips Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: There was a light moment in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Nov 3) when Datuk Fahmi Fadzil suggested that sacked Bersatu MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan's story could be made into a movie.

"First of all, I would like to express my condolences. May YB Tasek Gelugor (Wan Saiful) continue to be patient in facing this tremendous ordeal.

"You are a good man and it is unreasonable for you to be treated that way. I hope justice will prevail," the Communications Minister said when Wan Saiful asked a question during the ministry's winding-up debates on the Supply Bill 2026.

In response, Wan Saiful pointed out that Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) was another victim.

"Maybe you can make a film later," said Fahmi in jest.

Fahmi was alluding to Wan Saiful's expulsion from Bersatu.

Saifuddin will face the party's disciplinary board on Thursday (Nov 6).

On Oct 14, the Bersatu disciplinary board sacked five leaders, including Wan Saiful, for violating the party's code of conduct.

The four others sacked are all Bersatu division chiefs, namely Mohd Azrudin Mhd Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Mohd Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Mohd Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) and Mohd Isa Mohd Saidi (Ampang), while Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal had his membership suspended for one term.
