Woman recounts husband being shot 18 times in front of her eyes

PETALING JAYA: Wan Fatihah Mat Hussin, 35, recounted the horrifying moment when her husband, the late Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, was shot in front of her eyes.

"My husband was shot 18 times," she told Sinar Harian.

The incident occurred on Saturday (Nov 1) night at Kampung Bering, Sungai Golok, Thailand.

Wan Fatihah, currently pregnant with her first child from the deceased, said that at the time of the incident, around 6.40pm Thai time, her husband was installing a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in their house.

"Two suspects came from behind and shot my husband using two pistols each.

"Shot after shot was fired at my husband.

"I ran towards him and managed to hug him after he collapsed.

"After that, the two men continued to fire until they ran out of bullets before walking away.

"I screamed for help from those around me," she told reporters when met at the Kampung Apam Islamic Cemetery, Apam Putra, here on Sunday (Nov 2).

Wan Fatihah said her husband was shot in the body, neck and several other parts.

She said the total of 18 shots was confirmed after the post-mortem was completed.

Mohd Fuad Fahmie died at the Sungai Golok Hospital at 9pm.

Meanwhile, a family member of the victim, identified as Ahmad, 55, said the two suspects were believed to be a brother and sister.

"They are cousins of Wan Fatihah. Until now, we do not know the latest developments on whether the two have been arrested," he said.

Wan Fatihah was informed that she would undergo her period of Iddah at her mother-in-law's house and give birth to her baby here in Pasir Mas, Kelantan.

Earlier, it was reported that Mohd Fuad Fahmie was safely buried at the Kampung Apam Islamic Cemetery, Apam Putra, here, at 2.30pm on Sunday.

His mother, Zaiton Abdul Rahman, 64, as well as family members and close relatives were present at the funeral.

Mohd Fuad Fahmie, who was from Kampung Kepas Apam, here, died at 9pm whilst receiving treatment at the Sungai Golok Hospital.

His mother, Zaiton, was informed of her son's death by her daughter-in-law, Wan Fatihah, at around 9pm.
