PETALING JAYA: A full shuttle-bus service is in place between 11pm and 5am daily to facilitate rectification works to the recently unveiled Aerotrain service at the KL International Airport’s Terminal 1, says Malaysia Airports (MAHB).
Elsewhere, a concurrent shuttle bus service will run alongside the train service from 5am to 11pm daily to ensure uninterrupted passenger movements.
“Malaysia Airports is ready to mobilise extensive resources to provide full shuttle-bus services, according to the requirements of the comprehensive action plan,” it said in a statement yesterday.
It said the action plan will be led by its project team with full involvement of contractors and project consultants, in collaboration with an unnamed independent technical assessor.
It also said the plan is currently being developed with active engagement from all relevant parties.
“Malaysia Airports will continue working closely with the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) and the Transport Ministry to address and resolve the issue,” it said.
The airport operator added that it has formally addressed concerns with the contractors – Alstom and IJMC-Pestech Joint Venture – and demanded immediate corrective action.
“Preliminary assessments conducted have revealed a declining trend in system reliability, particularly involving the vehicle and power distribution systems.
“Despite receiving data and assurances from the contractors, the information provided has not instilled sufficient confidence in the current reliability of the Aerotrain system,” it said.
On Oct 28, Transport Minister Anthony Loke instructed Apad to launch an investigation into MAHB following the latest disruption to the Aerotrain earlier that morning, bringing the known number of incidences of disruptions to at least 21.
