Beware scam investment site impersonating The Star

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group Berhad, which publishes The Star print products and online portal, refers to a site misusing The Star's brand identity.

It has come to the group's attention that a fake news article misusing The Star's logo, name and website layout has been circulating.

When accessed via mobile phone, the link leads to a fake news article touting a PETRONAS investment platform but the fraudulent read ends with a scam investment promotion.

However, when accessed via desktop PC, the link appears to lead to an investment coaching site.

Star Media Group wishes to clarify that the article, hosted on a lookalike fraud site, is not affiliated with The Star in any way.

Please do not interact with such articles, social media pages or suspicious ads seen on social media.

The Star – which Reuters named one of the most trusted sources of news in Malaysia – publishes on its official website thestar.com.my.

To ensure you are looking at a genuine article by The Star, always check the web page address to confirm that the URL begins with https://www.thestar.com.my.

Should you come across fake news articles, social media advertisements or suspicious social media pages impersonating The Star or any other brands, please file a report with Facebook.
