SHAH ALAM: Three Malaysian Armed Forces personnel and a civilian were charged with graft at two separate Sessions Courts here yesterday.
In the first courtroom, army officer Lt-Kol Shahrul Nizam Shaf’in, 51, and his wife Citra Angrini Alam Mappiase, 36, who is five months’ pregnant, were charged before judge Mohd Nasir Nordin.
Also charged in the same court was Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Kpl Mohamad Amir Bakri Che Abdul, 32.
They were all accused of submitting a false quotation worth RM24,200 for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25) in May.
The charges were read separately to the trio, who all claimed trial.
Citra Angrini was charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code for allegedly deceiving the Subang Air Operations Command (MPOU) chief-of-staff by submitting false quotation from Protective Trading & Advisory Services Company in the Subang MPOU RMAF e-Procurement system.
She is also accused of misleading the MPOU chief-of-staff into approving a company called D Draxis Group Sdn Bhd as a supplier of support equipment for the LIMA’25 event.
Shahrul Nizam, who was the principal assistant secretary of the Defence Industry Division, and Mohamad Amir, who was with the RMAF procurement division, were both charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code for abetting her.
They faced a maximum jail term of five years or a fine or both if found guilty.
Mohd Nasir fixed bail at RM8,000 for Citra Angrini and RM7,000 for Shahrul Nizam and Mohamad Amir with one surety each and set Dec 8 for the case to be mentioned.
They were also ordered to surrender their passports to the court, report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office once a month and stay away from the prosecution witnesses.
In another Sessions Court, a Royal Malaysian Navy officer with the rank of captain, claimed trial to eight charges of corruption amounting to RM93,800.
The charges were read to Mahazan Ali, 48, who allegedly committed the offence between October 2023 and April this year, before judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud.
Mahazan, had allegedly, as the director of the Communications Branch of the Defence Cyber Electromagnetic Division and director of Human Resources Strategy, Human Resources Division, received the bribes from a 33-year-old individual, who had links to his official duties, through a 31-year-old intermediary.
He is accused of committing the offence under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which, if convicted, can result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine, or both.
Awang Kerisnada set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and directed Mahazan to surrender his passport and report to the nearest MACC office and fixed Dec 17 for the case to be mentioned.
