Floods: Situation in Kedah improves, unchanged in Perak


KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Kedah has decreased as of Saturday (Nov 1) night, while the situation in Perak remains unchanged with the same number of evacuees.

In KEDAH, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) reported that the number of victims had dropped to 264 people from 61 families as of 8pm, compared with 329 victims from 81 families on Saturday morning.

All victims from the Pendang district are still sheltering at two temporary relief centres (PPS), namely the Tanah Merah Sports Complex Hall and SK Tunku Intan Shafinaz.

In PERAK, the number of flood victims housed at the PPS at SAR Padang Serai, Manjung, remains at 124 people from 33 families, according to the state JPBN Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Irrigation and Drainage Department said, in a statement, that the water level of Sungai Kinta in the Kinta district was at the alert level, recording 248.02m, exceeding the normal level of 243.50m. - Bernama
