Inclusive care economy initiatives among matters to be discussed in Parliament today

KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s efforts to develop an inclusive care economy in Malaysia will be among matters to be discussed at the Dewan Rakyat sitting on Tuesday (Oct 28).

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament's website, Mohamad Shafizan Kepli (GPS-Batang Lupar) will ask the Finance Minister about the government’s efforts in formulating the implementation of a care economy in the country during Minister’s Question Time.

During the same session, Dr Halimah Ali (PN-Kapar) is scheduled to ask the Transport Minister about the planning approval status, the environmental impact assessment, and the government’s measures to ensure employment benefits from the RM255mil Sunway Pier Harbour project in Port Klang.

Measures to address the issue of Area Fishermen’s Associations (PNK), which have been ineffective in safeguarding the welfare of their members despite being officially registered and collecting annual membership fees, will also be discussed today, with Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda-Muar) set to raise the matter.

For the Questions for Oral Answers session, Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) will ask the Communications Minister to state the government’s stance on the Court of Appeal’s ruling that the terms "annoy” and "offensive” under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act constitute unconstitutional restrictions, as well as the government’s initiatives to harmonise Section 233 with the court’s decision.

The Dewan Rakyat will continue with the final day of debates on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026, followed by the winding-up session at the policy stage.

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament will run for 35 days until Dec 4. - Bernama
