PETALING JAYA: A ministerial briefing on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) findings on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will be part of the agenda for the Dewan Rakyat's special sitting on Aug 11.
According to the meeting notice, dated July 30, issued by Dewan Rakyat secretary Dr Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin, the House’s order of business for the special sitting entails a Ministerial Statement under Standing Order 14(1)(i) on the RCI report as well as the measures and actions taken to restore the agency's financial position.
“The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat has also granted permission for Honourable Members to seek clarification and express their views on the Ministerial Statement referred to in paragraph 4,” he added.
The special sitting will begin at 10am.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed the special sitting on Thursday(July 30).
The RCI report, released on Wednesday (July 30), recommended a forensic audit into past investment decisions that led to a severe deterioration in TH’s asset value.
The report, which investigated TH's management and operations between 2014 and 2020, identified several problematic investments that warrant forensic examination.The commission also found evidence of suspicious transactions and concealed information.
Meanwhile, a special task force has been set up to review and examine the findings of the RCI report on TH’s possible offences, including corruption, criminal breach of trust, document forgery, abuse of power and money laundering.
