Not going to war among major decisions at Asean-US Summit, says Anwar


KUALA LUMPUR: Regional leaders have described the just concluded Asean-US Summit as having a very positive and encouraging outcome.

Upon exiting the Asean-US Summit, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told reporters that the meeting with US President Donald Trump had gone well.

“Great meeting, good conversations, major decisions not to go to war,” said Anwar briefly to reporters here on Sunday (Oct 26).

Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto said continued engagements between the US and Asean are much supported.

“Engagements have been very positive for both Asean and the US.

We are also very happy that the US has mediated the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.

“There was a very positive outcome,” he told reporters on the sidelines.

The 13th Asean-US Summit was attended by Trump who arrived in Malaysia earlier today.
