No untoward incidents at Dataran Merdeka rally, says KL police chief


KUALA LUMPUR: The pro-Palestine rally at Dataran Merdeka on Sunday (Oct 26) morning proceeded smoothly with no untoward incidents, police say.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said about 100 people attended the rally, which was monitored closely by the authorities.

"We appreciate the cooperation of the organisers in ensuring that participants complied with the rules and instructions of the authorities.

"We remain committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to act firmly and facilitate assemblies to ensure they are conducted peacefully,” he said in a statement.

The rally coincided with the arrival of US President Donald Trump for the 47th Asean Summit here.

Trump arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 10.05am and was received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Kompleks Bunga Raya.
