He ought to return, says Fahmi on Muhyiddin’s wanted son-in-law

PUTRAJAYA: Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil says that Muhammad Adlan Berhan, who is on the run, should return to Malaysia and clear his name.

The Communications Minister said this at a post-Cabinet meeting press conference here on Friday (Oct 24) when asked if the meeting discussed the issue of the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is reportedly living in a Middle East country.

Muhammad Adlan is wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for alleged criminal breach of trust.

"The Cabinet did not discuss the issue of the son-in-law of the Pagoh MP, as there is nothing to discuss.

“Authorities believe this individual is in a country which has no extradition arrangements with Malaysia. He should come back and clear his name," said Fahmi, without naming Adlan and Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin is currently the Pagoh MP.

On Thursday, the Home Ministry confirmed that Muhammad Adlan's passport had been revoked following a request made earlier by the MACC to the Immigration Department.

The Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail also said that the police issued an arrest warrant for him

It was reported on Wednesday that Muhammad Adlan has allegedly been going in and out of the Middle Eastern country for overseas trips, including to Thailand for golf and visits to a shooting range.

The MACC had in the past said Adlan was residing in a country that does not have extradition arrangements with Malaysia.
