PETALING JAYA: Several initiatives addressing the daily concerns of Malaysians will be announced in conjunction with the country’s 69th National Day celebration, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said the initiatives will be announced as part of his National Day address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on Sunday (Aug 30).
“Nearly seven decades have passed since the country gained independence.
“We remember the struggles and sacrifices of earlier generations who paved the way with their sweat, blood and tears, before reflecting on the responsibility of the present generation to uphold and give meaning to our independence.
“God willing, I will deliver the National Day Prime Address at the PICC tomorrow afternoon (Aug 30). I will also announce several important initiatives in this address that address the concerns and lives of the people,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 29).
He urged Malaysians to follow the address, which will be broadcast live on local media channels.
“Let us keep this year’s National Day celebration alive by strengthening the spirit of unity and rejecting all forms of incitement to racial and religious hatred, for the sake of the country’s peace and the well-being of the people,” he added.
