KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan is not naming its candidates yet for fear of possible “candidate buying”, says Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The party’s president said their focus was to continue their groundwork and strengthen their party.

“When the time comes, our candidates will be ready,” said Shafie.

He said this in response to the Election Commission’s (EC) announcement of the 17th state election dates: Nov 29 for the general election, Nov 25 for early polls, and Nov 15 for Nominations Day.

He said Warisan has been prepared for the coming state election through years of consistent engagement with people across Sabah and did not wait for the Assembly to be dissolved before starting work.

“It’s not Kuala Lumpur that decides who becomes Chief Minister. It’s the voters of Sabah who must all come out in full force to decide our own future and protect Sabah’s dignity,” he said.
