Cabinet to make crucial decision on school violence cases this Friday, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: A major decision will be made by the Cabinet on Friday (Oct 17) concerning the recent incidents, including the stabbing and rape cases at schools, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said he had discussed the matter briefly with ministers and several individuals.

"A decision will be made tomorrow," he told reporters after launching the opening ceremony of the 43rd Asean Ministers on Energy Meeting and its associated Meetings and the 2025 Asean Energy Business Forum on Thursday (Oct 16).

Earlier today, it was reported that four teenagers, including three students, were arrested by police for allegedly being involved in the gang rape of a girl and distributing pornographic material on social media.

The Kedah State Education Department has expelled the teenagers allegedly involved.

It was learnt that the suspects were allegedly involved in sexual acts in several classes at the school between May and August.

In a separate case, a female Form Three student at the secondary school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, was believed to have been raped by two senior students.

The act was allegedly recorded and witnessed by two other students using their mobile phones in a classroom at about 2.50pm last week.

It is believed that the incident on Oct 2 was revealed after a video of the immoral act was shared among students before being reported to teachers and subsequently to the victim's mother on Friday evening (Oct 10).
