Weapons used in student stabbing were purchased online, says cops

SHAH ALAM: The two sharp weapons confiscated from the 14-year-old male student in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old female student were purchased online.

Selangor police chief, Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said the weapons —a curved blade (kerambit) and two knives —were bought online.

"Initial investigation revealed the suspect's family did not know about the purchase (of the weapons).

"We are still investigating to ascertain which online platform was used, and how long he owned the weapons", he told reporters at the state police headquarters on Wednesday (Oct 15).

While both weapons were seized, Comm Shazeli confirmed that only one of the knives was used in the murder.

"The post-mortem on the victim revealed that the wounds were inflicted using a knife," he added.

Comm Shazeli also confirmed that no checks were conducted on the suspect's bag before the suspect entered the school.
