Ask Pagoh, says Machang MP on party suspension after Rayer invites him to cross aisle

KUALA LUMPUR: "Ask Pagoh" was the response by Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal when asked about his suspension from Bersatu on Wednesday (Oct 15).

"Honestly, if you ask me the reason for my suspension, I too am not sure myself. You can ask Pagoh if he comes in again.

"But let me stress that my commitment remains the same to Perikatan Nasional and the people of Kelantan and my constituency.

"Thank you for your offer," he said when replying to RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) during debates on the motion of thanks on Budget 2026 in Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday. (Oct 15).

Earlier, Rayer, who was permitted by Wan Ahmad to interject in his Budget speech, said he felt genuinely saddened over the suspension.

He said that he was perplexed as to why such a coherent and eloquent MP was suspended by his own party and practicing double standards.

"I am very saddened and I support you Machang.

"If there are any other developments, I would like to invite you to come sit over this side.

"I disagree with the injustice against you," he said amidst backdrop of chuckles from the floor.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul reminded Wan Ahmad that it was up to him if he wanted to respond to Rayer's questions.

On Wednesday, Bersatu suspended Wan Ahmad and sacked its Bukit Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

Both men questioned the haste of their suspension, claiming the party's disciplinary board was tainted with bias and conflict of interest.

Wan Ahmad had his Bersatu membership suspended for one term while Wan Saiful was sacked for violating the party’s code of conduct.

The suspension and sacking came amid speculation that the group was involved in a movement collecting statutory declarations aimed at toppling Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as party president.

Muhyiddin is also Pagoh MP.

The duo said they would appeal the decision in the next 14 days allowed for appeal submissions.
