Sabah polls: GRS-PH seat talks concluded, says Hajiji


KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan have finalised their seat arrangements for the upcoming state polls, which will be announced on Nomination Day, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"Yes, we know already (but) I cannot announce now. Just wait until Nomination Day and you will know the numbers," he told reporters after visiting Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Pekan Tambunan on Tuesday (Oct 14).

The GRS chairman also said that the coalition will unveil its manifesto after Nomination Day, assuring that only the best will be offered to the people of Sabah.

He said that with the many achievements by the GRS government in the last five years, he was confident that the mandate would be returned to GRS and Pakatan.

"We have many achievements through various socio-economic programmes for the people. We have brought high-impact investments to spur Sabah's economic development,” he said.

Hajiji said the state had spent over RM1.3bil on human capital development initiatives and gave monthly assistance of RM300 to the hardcore poor on the e-Kasih list.

"We have scored successes in the oil and gas industry. The opposition tried to nullify these successes, but I believe the people are mature and will appreciate our successes," he said.

He also noted that the state election this time around would be merrier with so many political parties already announcing their intention to contest.

"Let us celebrate democracy," he said.

The Election Commission is scheduled to meet on Thursday (Oct 16) to determine key dates for the 17th Sabah state election.
