PETALING JAYA: Full-time e-hailing drivers can buy up to 600 litres of RON95 petrol per month under the Budi95 scheme, the Finance Ministry has announced.
This move to double the limit for the e-hailing drivers is part of ongoing improvements to the scheme.
“For full-time e-hailing drivers, more than 53,900 individuals will now benefit from the increased quota of 600 litres,” the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
Besides that, the ministry said that the Budi95 fuel subsidy is now extended to registered boat operators in Sarawak.
Last week, it was opened to boat users in Sabah registered under the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority.
“Based on data obtained from the Sarawak Rivers Board and related state agencies, there are over 1,400 registered private boat users in the state,” the ministry said.
In other gradual improvements, the ministry said over 11,400 new licence holders are now eligible for Budi95.
“These include 11,200 new drivers and 260 renewed licences, bringing the total number of Malaysians benefiting from Budi95 to over 16 million,” according to the statement.
As of 4pm on Wednesday, only 10 million people had benefited from the Budi95 subsidy.
“The government remains committed to ensuring that this targeted subsidy programme operates smoothly and transparently and continues to benefit the people,” the ministry said.
