JOHOR BARU: Johor is ramping up preparations for Visit Johor 2026, with major upgrades to tourism infrastructure and digital entry systems as the state targets 12 million tourist arrivals next year.

Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said various attractions and facilities are being improved to ensure visitors have a comfortable and memorable experience during their stay.

“Today, we launched the official mascot, theme song and slogan for Visit Johor 2026. By the end of next year, we are targeting 12 million visitors to come and join in the celebrations.

“A variety of exciting activities have been planned to attract tourists, and numerous tourism facilities have been upgraded to ensure visitors truly enjoy their time in Johor,” he said after the event held at Johor Zoo here on Monday (Oct 13).

He said the state is also enhancing public transport systems to improve tourist mobility within Johor Baru district.

“There are free bus services in the city to make travel easier. Many roads have already been upgraded, so I do not see this as a constraint.

“InsyaAllah, it will bring more comfort to visitors and tourists,” he said.

Onn Hafiz added that the state government has also introduced technological upgrades at entry points to facilitate smoother border crossings, especially for travellers from Singapore.

“While waiting for the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link to be completed, we have implemented facial recognition and QR code systems to make travel in and out of Johor more convenient,” he said.

The Mentri Besar expressed confidence that the Visit Johor 2026 campaign would be a success, saying the state is ready to welcome millions of domestic and international tourists.

“I believe Visit Johor 2026 will be a great success. I invite everyone, locals and tourists alike, to come and celebrate with us,” he said.
