Cleaver-wielding man in Ijok stopped by police


KUALA SELANGOR: An armed standoff with police has ended with a man who ran amok arrested on Sunday (Oct 12).

The incident, which was caught on camera, saw police surrounding the suspect, who was armed with a cleaver.

Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Azaharudin Tajudin, in a statement the same day, said that the police were notified of the incident yesterday after the suspect was seen on a rampage attempting to attack members of the public there.

"He was seen shouting and holding the cleaver. The police successfully arrested the suspect without injuries, including the suspect.

"He has been remanded for six days until Oct 18," he said.

The video showed the standoff between armed policemen and the suspect.

One of the policemen then fired his gun, which led the suspect to surrender by slowly crouching on the ground. The other policemen then restrained the man.
