GEORGE TOWN: An 80-year-old woman was found dead inside a flat unit in Kampung Melayu, Ayer Itam, here on Saturday (Oct 11).

Penang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director John Sagun Francis said the department received an emergency call at 3.56pm about a 'victim' inside a locked house.

He said eight firefighters from the Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Station, dressed in personal protective equipment, had to open the door using special tools.
