KOTA KINABALU: A man went missing after he was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile when repairing his fish nets in Lahad Datu at around midnight, Wednesday (Oct 8).

Lahad Datu acting OCPD Supt Jimmy Panyau said the incident was believed to have happened at Sungai Silabukan in the Indrawan Estate.

He said police and firemen had gone to the scene to coordinate search and rescue operations after receiving a report about the matter.

“The victim, a 27-year-old foreigner, was said to be mending his broken fish nets when the reptile attacked,” he said in a statement.

Supt Jimmy said search operations were activated at around 9.15am.

He advised the public against carrying out any activities in high-risk areas and places known to be habitats of crocodiles for their own safety.
