KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court has allowed the temporary release of the passports of FashionValet founders Datin Vivy Yusof and her husband Datuk Fadzarudin Shah Anuar to attend Islamic programmes in Istanbul and Bosnia.
“The court allows the application and the passports are handed over to the applicants. The passports will be returned to the court on Nov 13,” Rosli said here yesterday.
Earlier, lawyer Shaarvin Raaj, who represented Vivy and Fadzarudin, told the court that his clients would be attending the “Islamic Historical Retreat to Istanbul-Bosnia with Sheikh Wael Ibrahim” from Nov 4 until 11.
Deputy public prosecutor Haresh Prakash Somiah said the prosecution was informed of the application and had no objections.
Previously, the court had allowed Vivy and Fadzarudin temporary access to their passports for their umrah trip in December last year.
On Dec 5, 2024, Vivy and Fadzarudin were jointly accused of fraudulently making a payment of RM8mil from FashionValet Sdn Bhd to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without the approval of FashionValet’s board of directors.
According to the charge sheet, Vivy and Fadzarudin, in their capacity as company directors, were entrusted with the monies, which were investment funds from Khazanah Nasional and PNB.
The offence was allegedly committed at a Public Bank branch in Bukit Damansara on Aug 21, 2018.
They were charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code.
If convicted, Vivy and Fadzarudin face imprisonment of between two and 20 years, whipping and a fine.
They are currently out on RM100,000 bail each.
