Anwar joins 23 freed GSF volunteers on stage at packed stadium

‌KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Malaysians led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim have showed up at the Axiata Arena indoor stadium tonight in a show of solidarity for Palestine and to celebrate the safe return of 23 Malaysian humanitarian activists who took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission.

In an almost full stadium, the mood was fiery as thousands of supporters waved Palestinian and Malaysian flags as chants of “Free Palestine” echoed across the stands.

Anwar, who arrived just before 9pm, shared the stage with the 23 activists and is expected to give his speech in due time.

The activists were among those held by Israeli forces on Oct 2 and were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.
