Sabah State Assembly dissolved today, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called for the 17th state election as he announced the dissolution of the assembly at Menara Kinabalu here on Monday (Oct 6), ending months of speculations.

He said Yang DiPertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman consented to the dissolution when he sought his audience on Monday morning.

"With Tun’s consent, the 16th state assembly will be dissolved with effect today," he said.

He said this will make way for the 17th state elections and allow the people to choose who they want to continue to lead the state.

Hajiji, who took over the state government after the Sept 26, 2020 snap election that toppled the Warisan government, said that he was seeking a second term to complete unfinished work put in place by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)- Pakatan Haparan state government.
