Dewan Rakyat allocates one day for PSSC chairs to brief public on findings

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat will set aside one day for Parliamentary Special Select Committee (PSSC) chairmen to deliver briefings on their findings.

Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the move is to ensure the accountability of the executive branch to the legislative branch.

"Today marks another historic episode ensuring accountability of the executive to the Dewan Rakyat, in which one day has been allocated to conduct briefing sessions by the PSSC chairman on committee reports tabled in this august House.

"These briefings also serve to provide coverage and exposure on the functions and role of special select committees in current issues to the public," he told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 6).

The briefing sessions are subject to the consideration of the PSSC chairmen from time to time, with the Speaker having granted permission to conduct them whenever necessary.

Other matters to be debated during this Parliament meeting are the Auditor-General’s Report and the Supply Bill 2026, which will be tabled later this week.

Johari also reminded MPs to undergo their health checks by Nov 7.

"This is important and helps all of you to know of your health status, allowing for preventive measures to be taken (where necessary)," he said.

The Dewan Rakyat seeks to ensure that MPs are always in good health, with every Wednesday also designated as a sugar-free drink day in Parliament.
