BUKIT MERTAJAM: Some 700 schools nationwide, including boarding schools, have undergone safety audits so far, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
She said the process will continue over the next month or two at more than 10,000 schools nationwide.
"This is an important initiative that reflects the ministry’s commitment to ensuring our schools continue to receive due attention, particularly in terms of safety," she said after launching an anti-bullying campaign at Yayasan Aman here on Sunday (Oct 5).

Fadhlina said the audit will provide the ministry with valuable insights and a clear picture of areas that require improvement, especially concerning the well-being and safety of students in the country.
Meanwhile, Fadhlina said it is important to have a medical team on site during any sports event to ensure students' safety.
"Moving forward, our focus will be on overall safety. This includes the type of support provided, as well as the readiness of medical teams on standby for every match," she said.
She noted that health checks for student athletes were a requirement, and that their parents must also inform the school if their children have any medical issues.
Fadhlina said the ministry would continue to remind young players and coaches about the importance of safety measures.

She also expressed her deepest condolences over the incident on Friday (Oct 3) when a Form Four student collapsed during the National-Level Fully Residential School (SBP) Rugby 7s Tournament.
The post-mortem on the deceased found that the boy died from internal bleeding caused by a torn psoas (hip flexor) muscle.
The tournament has been suspended to allow space and support for the affected family.
It has been rescheduled to Jan 28-31 next year.
