Seven-year-old hammer attack victim dies of injuries in ICU

PETALING JAYA: The seven-year-old boy, who was hit by his uncle with a hammer, died at 3.02pm Wednesday (Oct 1).

According to Malay language daily Sinar Harian, Muhammad Ammar Muhammad Badrul's death was confirmed by the victim's father, Muhammad Badrul Rameli, 31, when contacted.

"Muhammad Ammar died at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM), Kubang Kerian," he told Sinar Harian.

Previously it was reported that Ammar, who was severely beaten with a hammer by his uncle, was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at HPUSM, due to persistent bleeding in his head.

Ammar was being closely monitored and had been put on a ventilator.

Badrul had, on Friday (Sept 26), asked the public to pray for a miracle for his eldest child.

"Hopefully, the prayers from everyone will work a miracle for my son, (Muhammad Ammar)," he said in a social media post.

The father said he received a call at 4.30pm on Thursday (Sept 25) from his sister, who is also the suspect's wife, informing him that her son had been hit with a hammer.

He said that upon arriving at the house, he found his son covered in blood and lying in a small room.

"The doctor informed us that Muhammad Ammar's condition was critical. When I saw him, there was a slight movement in his head as if he wanted to ask for help," said the father.
