Seven-year-old critically hurt after uncle hits him with hammer


BACHOK: A seven-year-old boy is in critical condition after allegedly being struck with a hammer by his uncle at a shop house on Jalan Kedai Jelawat here on Thursday (Sept 25), Sinar Harian reports.

In the incident, which occurred at around 5pm Thursday, the child sustained severe head injuries and is currently in a critical situation, the Malay language daily reported.

Bachok Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Azrie Sulaiman told Sinar Harian that they received an emergency call from a man reporting the incident.

"Initial investigations suggest the suspect hit the victim with a hammer in his own home.

"The victim is believed to be the suspect's nephew," he said in a statement.

He added that the child was taken to Bachok Hospital for further treatment.

"The victim's condition is very critical," he noted.
