Smooth first day for Budi95 rollout in Sabah

Motorists refuelling at a Petronas station in Ranau during the first day of the subsidy rollout.

KOTA KINABALU: The first day of the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) implementation in Sabah kicked off smoothly, with no major issues reported even in outskirt areas such as Sandakan and Ranau.

The only hiccup faced by motorists was the temporary system downtime affecting card payments at some self-service pumps. As a result, users were advised to bring their MyKad directly to the counter for verification and payment.

PETRONAS customers also had the option of paying through the Setel app, which continued to function normally.

According to a worker at a PETRONAS station in Ranau, the process of reading MyKad at the counter was quick and did not cause significant delays. QR payment was also available but had to be processed manually at the counter.

“There was no unusual queue at the station. Even with the system issue, everything went smoothly and motorists could refuel without much waiting,” added the worker.

There were also no reports of congestion at other petrol stations, indicating that the new system’s rollout caused minimal disruption to motorists.

Budi95, which aims to improve targeted fuel subsidies and reduce leakages, was rolled out for the public on Sept 30 after being introduced to police and army personnel on Sept 27, and to Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients on Sept 28.
