JOHOR BARU: Job seekers thronged the myStarjob Fair 2026 at the Mid Valley Southkey Exhibition Centre here to explore career opportunities across various industries.
The two-day job fair, which ends today, takes place from 11am to 7pm.
It offers career opportunities from 19 companies, including those based in Singapore.
Participating companies include those from the banking, automotive, engineering and technology industries.
The fair also features six job matching sessions, seven career-focused talks, four lucky draw sessions and a career quest challenge.
The talks focus on career building and provide introductions to various companies, including those in the data centre industry.
Fresh graduate Naim Hakimi Nasruddin, 23, said he was encouraged by the wide range of opportunities available.
“I came to the fair because I had an interview with a Singapore-based company for an operations engineer programme.
“The interview went well, and they told me they would get back to me in about a week.
“Since I was already here, I decided to visit the other booths as well because there are many jobs being offered,” said the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia graduate.
Analysis programmer Lim Wei Hao, 25, said he was glad he decided to spend part of his weekend exploring the career opportunities available at the fair.
“There are many interesting companies taking part, such as banks and companies providing online services.
“We have visited a few booths to learn more about the opportunities available,” he said, adding that he attended the fair with his friend, graphic designer Yu Zi Qian.
Job seeker L. Anna, 32, said she hoped the fair would help end her year-long search for employment.
“This is the third job fair I have attended this year, and I really hope to secure a job this time.
“There are quite a number of companies participating, so I’m optimistic that I’ll find an opportunity that suits my experience and skills,” she said.
Among the participating exhibitors are Toyota Malaysia, DayOne Data Centers Malaysia, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd and Mr Designer Studio.
Lifestyle sponsor Toyota Malaysia showcased a wide range of career opportunities, including positions in human resources, sales and information technology, with vacancies ranging from managerial and executive roles to positions for fresh graduates.
Visitors to its booth could enjoy a range of promotions and offers, including cash rebates on all models.
DayOne Data Centers Malaysia early careers talent acquisition manager Kenneth Lee said the company’s first participation in the myStarJob Fair had been a positive experience, citing strong visitor turnout and effective promotional efforts leading up to the event.
“There was a lot of marketing before the event, with the team encouraging us to share our available positions and promotional materials. It really helped bring the crowd in.
“Many visitors were curious about the data centre industry, as it remains relatively unfamiliar to many job seekers.
“A lot of the questions revolved around what data centres do, the kind of opportunities we offer and where we are located,” he said.
He said DayOne is hiring for a wide range of technical and corporate positions such as mechanical and electrical engineering, facility management, finance, accounting, commissioning and construction roles.
DayOne also offers opportunities for students and fresh graduates through its internship and graduate trainee programmes, he added.
Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Johor Baru outlet manager Fadzly Helmy Hamdan said the turnout had been encouraging.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to be here and hope more people will come and join us at Perodua,” he said.
He said many visitors were keen to find out where the available positions were based and whether they could apply for opportunities outside Johor.
“We encourage them to submit their resumes first. We will contact shortlisted candidates for interviews,” he said.
Fadzly said Perodua is recruiting for a range of positions across its sales, service, body and paint, and administration departments.
