Bersatu Perak chiefs demand action against Wan Saiful

IPOH: Several Bersatu division chiefs in Perak call on the party’s leadership to take disciplinary action against Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan for making statements they said went against party policy.

In a joint statement, the group said the remarks by the party’s supreme council member, made together with Bersatu Sepang division chief Datuk Suhaimi Ghazali, Ampang division chief Isa Zaidi and Ipoh Timor division chief Fadhli Ismail, had misled the public and tarnished the party’s image.

"The statement not only confused the people but also damaged the good name of the party.

"It does not reflect the discipline and organisational etiquette that have been the strength of Bersatu since its inception," they said in the statement issued on Tuesday (Sept 30).

They urged the party’s supreme council and its disciplinary board to act swiftly against Wan Saiful and any other member who issued statements contradicting party policies.

"This firm step is important to prevent acts of indiscipline from recurring and spreading within the party.

"We also call on members at all levels to remain united and to give their undivided support to party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and not to be swayed by any movement that could damage Bersatu’s reputation," the statement read.

This comes after Wan Saiful held a press conference earlier Monday (Sept 29) denying allegations that statutory declarations were collected to oust Muhyiddin.

He had also said that he would refer both party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz to the party's disciplinary board for alleged threats against division leaders supposedly linked to the plot to oust Muhyiddin.

Wan Saiful also said Azmin should not remain as a party leader as long as the controversy surrounding a sexually explicit video of the latter remained unresolved.
