Anwar accepts invitation to deliver lecture at Oxford University

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has accepted an invitation from Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) to visit and deliver a lecture at Oxford University at a suitable time.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he received the invitation during a courtesy call from the OCIS board of trustees at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya on Monday (Sept 29).

Anwar said the delegation consisted of former president of Turkiye Dr Abdullah Gul, former prime minister of Kuwait Sheikh Dr Mohammed Al-Sabah, OCIS director Dr Farhan Nizami and OCIS fellow Datuk Dr Afifi al-Akiti.

"We exchanged views on the development of economic affairs and international relations in the Islamic world, particularly in fostering dialogue between the Islamic world and the West, as well as strengthening understanding of Islamic economics and markets," he said. – Bernama
