Mother of Selangor’s Tengku Permaisuri laid to rest at Royal Mausoleum


SHAH ALAM: The mother of Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Esah Tahar, has been laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum here at around 2.45pm on Sunday (Sept 28).

The funeral prayers were performed at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, led by Grand Imam Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, following Zohor prayers.

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor also performed the funeral prayers and witnessed the burial, which was attended by Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s family members.

Also present were state Islamic affairs and innovation committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah; youth, sports and entrepreneurship committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi; and rural development, unity and consumer affairs committee chairman Datuk Rizam Ismail.

‎Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar were also in attendance.

The royal couple poured rose water over the grave following the completion of the talqin (reminder) led by Muhammad Farhan.

Earlier, the Selangor Royal Office, in a Facebook post, announced that Esah passed away at the age of 82 at a hospital in Damansara at 5.15am. – Bernama
